Spring Hats

Spring is coming!  You know what that means, warmer weather, spring clothes, and spring sales!  I am going to be on the hunt for a good deal on a floppy sun hat.  They are too cute to resist!   It is hard to make the transition from Fall to Spring.  We have to put away all those lovely scarves, sweaters, and boots and bring out the wedges, shorts, and sandals. Then we also have to start shaving more often. Ugh.  It can be hard.  But with the right outfits, a little fun, and a LOT of shopping, this time of year can be really cute.  Here is my take on Spring Fashion this season.  Tell me what you think. Disclaimer, I am not a super trendy person.  This look was an attempt at high fashion and super trendy items.  So basically don't laugh at me.  Well, maybe you can just a little.

High waisted shorts are very in right now.  However, it is hard to know what to pair them with.  I found this pair of DKNY high waisted shorts at Macy's on sale for $24.99 originally $70.  I love this teal color.  They are unique and springy.  To show off the waist line a bit I bought this crop top from Target for about $10.  It is a perfect top for high waisted shorts or skirts.

The shoes: I found these short booties at Famous Footwear for $45, originally $100.  They have little cut outs on the side, so they have nice detail. My necklace I got from Forever 21 for $10 or so.  I love statement necklaces and this one was too unique to pass up.  I only buy trendy jewelry at Forever 21 because although I love Nordstrom trendy jewelry is well trendy and thus goes out of style quickly.  You can find the same necklace at Forever for half the price.

The hat (my favorite part of the outfit) is my step moms. She let me borrow it.  Actually I took it without asking.  So I hope she doesn't mind.  I think hats are a big commitment, but they can completely take a look to a whole new level.  I'm trying not to laugh in this photo, so its okay to laugh at me here.

Fall in San Diego

So I know this post is a little late...more like a whole season late, but Emily came and visited me in the Fall in San Diego.  We put a couple cute outfits together for the fall.  San Diego weather is perfect for boots, scarves and dresses/skirts, which happens to be some of my favorite items to put together.  Check out my Fall San Diego look!

Tan Cardigan: Nordstrom $38 -- Absolutely worth every penny!  A staple to my wardrobe!
Tribal print Scarf: Nordstrom $12
Black Skater Skirt: Nordstrom $28
Brown Suede Boots: Emily's closet -- Thank you Em

Popular Trend: Stripes

This look is fun for a casual day for errands, shopping, or just hanging around.  I am in love with stripes right now!  I found this shirt at J. Crew for $20. It is light grey with white stripes.  The top of the sleeves have three gold buttons, which sadly you can't see here, but I think it adds a lot to the top.   I  added a chambray shirt from Old Navy, black jeans, and tan booties.  To add some accessories I paired a dark grey scarf and a coral watch for a pop of color.  What do you think? Pretty cute right!

Color Break ( Mint, Lavender, and J Crew)

Smiles :)
Senior Portrait Look-a Like
Although I love black, occasionally I need to break out of my comfort zone and throw some mint and lavender into my wardrobe. Add a beautiful fall landscape and these colors really come alive. Again I paired the inexpensive outfit with some classy J Crew Shoes. My mom bought these for me as a "Shopping Therapy" trip after a bad break up. HEY, sometimes Mom's just know how to make you feel better.
Mint Sweater- ANGL ($24)
Articles of Society Jeans- Nordstrom
Lavender Necklace- Charming Charlies ($8 Originally $20)
Grey Swede Flats- J Crew ($128)

Fall at the Cliffs

This post is to mostly show off my Ivanka Boots..Yes they were pretty expensive but well worth the price. These boots make a plan outfit look classy. Don't forget when you buy a pair of swede boots to use a swede protector before wearing them out in questionable weather. You will ruin them if they get wet! I used UGG's product.
Ivanka Trump Swede Rider Boots-  Macy's ($100 Originally $300)
Winter White Sweater- Forever 21 ($14.99)
Textured Tights- Target ($6.00 Originally $8)
Black Mini- H & M ($5)
Pink Pendant Necklace- Forever 21 ($4.99)
Grey Head Band- Forever 21 ($6.99)

21st Birthday Look

This is the outfit I wore for Emily's 21st Birthday.  It was perfect for any type of party really. I got the top and skirt from Nordstrom.  Something I love about Nordstrom that most people don't utilize much is their customer service.  They take pride in their customer service.  So if you have an awesome shirt or some unique bottoms that you aren't quite sure how to wear, bring them with you when you shop at Nordstrom.  Their fashion consultants are there to help you!  They work partly off of commission so they want to help you!!!   Also, they offer a completely free service that I don't think most people take advantage of. If you call Nordstrom ahead of time you can make a free styling appointment.  They will ask you some basic questions to figure out what price range you are interested in spending and what you are looking to buy.  Then you come into the store at an appointed time and you will get a completely FREE personal shopper and stylist.  Nordstrom is your friend!

Okay enough praising Nordstrom. For this outfit I wore a sheer black tank.  It was from the TopShop Department in Nordstrom.  I purchased it on sale for $12.  The skirt I wore is a black body con skirt that is accented with gold chevron print. It is also from Nordstrom, BP, $34. I wore a gold necklace and a black cuff bracelet.  My heels are black suede peep toe from Charolette Russe, $10.

Emily's Day to Night Outfit

Nicole and I are so excited to continue blogging and we thought it was necessary to do a photo shoot!
For this photo shoot we transformed day time outfits into night time/going out with friends outfits.

Teacher Inspiration

I paired a mint chiffon collar top (Forever 21 $12) with a polka-dot sweater (Forever 21 $24). Nicole and I found black jeans from Nordstrom that fit like a glove on both of us so I had to put those on for this outfit ($44 but Nordstroms sale took $10 off so $34). For shoes I put on a simple pair of flats from Pay less ($14). OH YA! I forgot my new Ray Ban glasses..I LOVE THEM. They are prescription so I am not sure how much they cost but they pull the outfit together!

Jewelry makes all the difference
To transition into night time I took off the sweater and added a black necklace ($12 with sale from The Daisy Shoppe) and a chuncky black bracelet ($12 from forever 21). For shoes I slipped off my flats and put on some strap-y black wedges by Carlos Santana ($69). To pull the look together I added a black clutch ( an essential to any wardrobe!) which was a present from my mom many Christmases ago.

I need to work on my high fashion poses
Overall our first photo shoot went really well. We even invited a special photographer/model  Samantha Davis who will soon be posting some of her own outfits here as well.

I love this background
AND posing for photos is much harder than it looks. Out of the 200 pictures taken we cut them down to about 15 which were acceptable to post. Hopefully next time we can be a little more successful. Or we can find people who are just naturally photogenic to help us out!

Always remember to have fun with your outfits!

Nicole and I would also like to thanks to Bev Walker owner of The Flower Stand in Laguna Beach. We bought two flowers for a very reasonable price which added a pop of color to our pictures!

Nicole's Day to Night Look

For this post, Emily and I wanted to both take an outfit that we would wear to work and show you how we would jazz it up a bit for going out.  So here is how I turned my Preschool attire into going out for cocktails at night!

I took my simple plain black dress (Target, $19.99) paired it with a light pink cardigan (Forever 21, $12), added a cheetah print scarf (Charolette Russe, $10).  Tan booties (Pac Sun on sale for $6) and a cute Boho bag (Charming Charlies on sale for $7).

For going out, I got rid of the cardigan and scarf.  Added a blingy necklace (Forever 21, $10), tan leather jacket (also Forever 21, $30).  Lastly my Pammy suede wedges from Steve Madden (I splurged on these $99 yikes!) Why I liked this dress for this style was the cutout in the back.  At work it would definitely be inappropriate but the cardigan hides the cutout.  For night, it is a fun flirty way to show some skin.  I love the cutout style that is going on right now!

Nicole's A Copycat

So Emily is loving the stripes lately, and since we are attached at the hip, I see her wearing, picking out, and eyeing stripes all the time.  I'm usually not a huge fan, but I LOVE ombre looks so I thought this was super cute!  Shhh don't tell Emily but I'm secretly competing with her stripes.
